There Was No Rock There!?

Here is yet another story of another critter that 'ventured into our yard. Let's see, we have already had the poor petrified frog, the red-tailed hawk, snakes, bats, squirrels, and any number of birds. Not to mention all the neighborhood kitties, which is what lead us to discover the most recent 'new kid on the block'.
Mike and I were pooped from running around here and there. So we were veggin' in the living room, when he noticed a cat in the yard. I jumped up to take a peek. Hadn't seen that cat before. I watched her as she went up to what looked like a rock in the middle of our front yard. She sniffed and quickly jerked back her head, only to sniff again and start to leave the rock alone. "There was no rock there?!" I exclaimed. "That has to be a turtle...how did that get there?" We both zipped out the door to get a better look. And sure enough, we had a turtle in the yard, I haven't a clue where it wondered from. Looked like someone had been gnawing on the poor little thing. We discovered later that it was a female eastern box turtle. What really got us scratching our heads, was that she seemed to have a 'hinge' on the underside of her shell. One minute you saw her legs and head, the next she was in and sealed up like Fort Knox. Pretty impressive, never saw that before. Thank goodness she had the smarts to book it outta here before we mowed the lawn the next day.

Drinking

One day, two rednecks named Bubba and Earl were driving down the road, drinking a couple of Buds. The passenger, Bubba, said "Lookey thar up ahead Earl, it's a po-leece roadblock! We're gonna get busted fer drinkin' these here beers!"

"Don't worry Bubba," Earl said. "We'll just pull over and finish drinkin' these beers, peel off the label and stick it on our fore-heads, then throw the bottles under the seat."
"What fer?" asked Bubba.
"Just let me do the talkin', okay?" said Earl.
They finished their beers, threw the empty bottles under the seat and slapped the labels on their foreheads.
When they reached the roadblock, the sheriff said, "Have you boys been drinking?"
"No sir," said Earl, "See here, we're on the patch."

Short and Sweet

I haven't had much to say on here lately. What with life the way it is, all it's ups and downs, and how quickly days zoom by. Getting caught up in all the day to day mumbo-jumbo and stresses. For reasons good or bad, I have had the chance to step away from my life for a short time and really begin to see what it is. Allowing me the opportunity to try and alter my course.
My little sister had a good quote yesterday, "Other things may change, but we start and end with family."~ Anthony Brandt. That couldn't be more true. I am grateful everyday for the wonderful family and support system that I have. I don't know where I would be without them. And I couldn't thank them all enough!

*And to my sisters, yesterday was alot of fun. :)
