He Still Keeps Me Laughing

Ok, so Toby's newest thing was just too funny not to share. I am sure everyone one has owned or seen those laser lights. They used to be popular when I was in middle school, everyone just haddd to have one. Although the only thing they were good for was pointing things out, and annoying our teachers. They were silly really, especially when they started coming out with all the different ends so you could make more then just a red dot shine on a wall.
Anyways...after they lost interest with the kiddies, someone got the idea that it would be a good cat toy. Yup, entertain your cat by making it chase this red dot around the room. Made more sense then when we had them in school, right? We did get one, a couple years ago. It was on sale this one time when we were in the pet store. One of those 'cheap, fun, eh..what the hell, let's get it' kinda things. Well the one we got I have had in the closet for months. Mike's niece used to come and visit, and thought it was fun to shine in peoples faces...so it went into hiding for awhile. Well, I came across it the other day. Lily (our kitty) never really got a chance to play with it, so I whipped it out and started to zip this little red dot across the room for her to chase. She started to get interested, but all of a sudden was squished by Toby! He came barrelling after it like a grizzly going after the last salmon!! Here, there, and everywhere...he was on a mission, and he had to get that red dot if it was the last thing he did!! I could get him to jump up walls, and run across the house as fast as he could move his fuzzy lil feet. I eventually had to stop, he wasn't getting tired of it, and was getting a bit too obsessed with his 'get the dot!' game. Plus I couldn't stop laughing at him. So yup...laser lights, they aren't just a cat toy...at least not in our house.

And yes...He still plays with it!

Felt Like A Kid Again

Last Sunday Mike and I decided we needed to get out!! After nothing but work, and more work, we needed to let off some steam and have some fun! So after a little bit of shopping, we headed to the movies. Got to see the newest X-Men Movie: Wolverine. I thought it was good, and watching Hugh Jackman didn't hurt either. After that, we headed to the planetarium. Something neither of us has done since we were kids. We are lucky enough to live near the Morehead Planetarium. This place is amazing. The Planetarium was designed by the architects who planned the Jefferson Memorial, and they train astronauts there. It also is home to a Carl Zeiss Model VI Planetarium Projector, which was installed in 1969. One of only five in the world, and can 'produce' millions of stars and planets. So you can imagine they take very good care of it.
We went for the 'Carolina Skies' show. Where they show you what you could see and what to look out for when you walk right outside your door, along with some other stuff. She was going to show us the night sky over the Antarctic too, but we ran outta time.
Anyways, it was just amazing being able to sit there in the dark, and look up, and it felt like you were out in the middle of nowhere and could just see into the night sky for miles. You forgot you were even in a building. We definitely want to go again when the season changes, and there are other constellations to look at. If you haven't been to one, or haven't gone in awhile. You should totally go to a planetarium, and have fun looking at the night sky. Made me feel like a kid again.

Friday Fill-Ins 10

This week I got around to doing another Friday Fill-Ins.

1. The first rule of working in an office and getting along is remembering that not everyone does and thinks the way you do.
2. I don't eat clams.
3. When I think of carnivals I think of cotton candy, the ferris wheel, and creepy 'carnies'.
4. Daffodils are my favorite spring flower.
5. Things on my desk include lots of pens, my school work, and of course my computer monitor.
6. Sometimes work makes me wanna scream!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to finally seeing Mike home before I go to bed, tomorrow my plans include maybe some house work (like brushing my hairy dog) and Sunday, I want to make a nice big dinner before the work week starts yet again!
