Last Sunday Mike and I decided we needed to get out!! After nothing but work, and more work, we needed to let off some steam and have some fun! So after a little bit of shopping, we headed to the movies. Got to see the newest X-Men Movie: Wolverine. I thought it was good, and watching Hugh Jackman didn't hurt either. After that, we headed to the planetarium. Something neither of us has done since we were kids. We are lucky enough to live near the Morehead Planetarium. This place is amazing. The Planetarium was designed by the architects who planned the Jefferson Memorial, and they train astronauts there. It also is home to a Carl Zeiss Model VI Planetarium Projector, which was installed in 1969. One of only five in the world, and can 'produce' millions of stars and planets. So you can imagine they take very good care of it.
We went for the 'Carolina Skies' show. Where they show you what you could see and what to look out for when you walk right outside your door, along with some other stuff. She was going to show us the night sky over the Antarctic too, but we ran outta time.
Anyways, it was just amazing being able to sit there in the dark, and look up, and it felt like you were out in the middle of nowhere and could just see into the night sky for miles. You forgot you were even in a building. We definitely want to go again when the season changes, and there are other constellations to look at. If you haven't been to one, or haven't gone in awhile. You should totally go to a planetarium, and have fun looking at the night sky. Made me feel like a kid again.
