Outer Banks Adventure

Vicki finally made it to NC for her vacation!! This is just some of the hundreds of pictures we took...

It didn't take us long and we had decided to get tattoos!! Yes, real tattoos. Though I am terrified of needles, I finally sucked it up and got one! With everything I went through I had been seriously considering getting one for awhile now.

(mine would be the red)

Day 1:

The next day we were off to the Outer Banks!! Music was blaring as we were zippin' down the road...

...so excited!

Made a pit stop and sampled some Fried Green Tomatoes for the first time! They were delish! ☺
...also tried some cheddar...
...and apple fries, YUM...after all the junk I ate this week, no more eating for awhile :-p
When we saw the Piggly Wiggly, we had to stop!

After 5+ hours on the road, we arrived safely at our hotel for some much needed sleep!

Day 2:

Started off our day by going to the beach, just across the street from our hotel!

The wind was so strong that day we were literally getting sand-blasted! ouch

We collected lots of sea shells.

Followed this lil' guy for awhile...

Then we headed on over to the Wright Brothers National Memorial...

We could see the monument from our room.

It was SUPER windy!! Hence my demonstration...

...not good on the hair :-p

...Vicki holding on to the memorial for support, there were wind advisories all day...

...off of the huge dune, was the statue replica of that famous first flight...

...each granite marker shows the exact spot all four flight attempts landed...

The rest of our day was spent resting and hiding in our room from the possible storms/tornadoes coming. Luckily we just got a lil' rain and that was it. Thankfully the next day the wind was down to a small breeze!

Day 3:

Before heading home we headed further down the coast and saw the infamous Cape Hatteras Lighthouse...

The lighthouse was huge (it's the tallest in America) and just breathtaking ☺

Then one more stop at a random beach.

Some people drove on to the beach and were fishing, others were surfing...
One last look...

Had a FANTASTIC time!!! Hope to do it again! ☺

Sneak Peek

A sneak peek at the Gardens...where my sister gets hitched in just about a year!

I will fully admit I have been a bit skeptical (of the location, not the groom-to-be ☺)...but after seeing they recently planted a lilac bush in the gardens, which we saw in full bloom...memories of NH came flooding back and brought tears to my eyes, and I told her she was meant to get married there! ♥ The very next day she was one of the lucky few to book her date. ☺

Gopher

While helping with the new deck remodeling I obtain many roles...novice carpenter, tractor operator, or I assume a position on the advisory board. Most of the time however I am designated as the "gopher", so called because one must "go-for" this or "go-for" that. I am not one to brag, but I have become very good at it over the years. Ready to jump when needed ☺

Painting The Loo

Check another project off the list! Spent this week painting the 1/2 bath.

Before:

Huge outdated mirror...

(pay no mind to the blue painters tape) lots of wood trim.... ...and green walls. though it had a new toilet, it just looked out of place. After:

Nice new mirror... ...no more wood trim......and beautiful gray walls... ...now the toilet looks at home ☺ Much better! All ready to welcome guests ☺

Giant Bed Bug

Some say stuff is bigger in the south....apparently this is true when it comes to bed bugs...I had a HUGE white critter sneak into my bed and it wouldn't get out! ☺

Epiphany

I finally came to the realization...I married an angry monster with no conscience.
Words I never thought I would even mutter...and I can't fix that mistake soon enough.

Another weekend (well, more like day) of helping dismantle and put back together an even bigger deck! (for more pics click here) (Want to have it noted that Toby doesn't ride on the tractor. When it's in motion he safely trots behind it. ☺)

"A lil closer...closer..." And to think he trusted me to pull up the deck with the bucket...just a hair... When not in use...the dogs like to hold the tractor down ☺

Step 3...

Step #3...I took another (baby) step just this last week. I finally got the guts to call legal aid and start the process for the divorce. In this state I had to wait 1 year and 1 day before I was even legally allowed to file for a divorce. Well I bypassed that amount of time by a few months.
I felt like I was finally able to move forward from alot of the past. Dealing with the divorce itself now was just bringing back everything that I had spent so much time moving on from. But I finally realized I am just delaying the inevitable. More time won't make it better at this point. So I bit the bullet and now I am just waiting for a lawyer to call me back to answer some questions I need answered. Then hopefully it's just a matter of alot of paper shuffling.
Another reason I didn't want to deal with this, is it has made me feel completely isolated. I have no one to ask advice, I have no one close to me that really knows what I am going through or how to get through it unscathed. I hope it's all done and over with as quickly as possible. Putting that last bit of closer I really need into place.

Step 2...

Step #2...After I don't even know how long, with some help (thank you SO much!) I was able to FINALLY get my car fixed!!! Even if I just have it for a little while (still needs a lil fixin') it's an unbelievable feeling to know I have a sense of freedom back! Yippee!! ♥

Color Differences

Just recently I got the crazy idea in my head (though someone may of put it there) to paint my bedroom! I don't like painting at all...but I went and did it anyways. ☺

Before:

Lots of 'tan' trim and off-white walls.

And after:

Grey walls (though as the day goes by it seems to change colors in the light) and white trim!
